«A left valve partly broken and about 68 millim. high. It is orbicular, thin, moderately swollen (12 millim. deep) and furnished with about thirty-three simple, flatly rounded, subequal, straight radiating ribs wich dis-appear near the beak. The intersoaces are much wider than the ribs themselves and are occasionally furnished with a secondary riblet which does not reach as high as the main ribs. The ears are nearly equal.»

«One young right valve was collected. This specimen is small subcircular compressed and nearly equilateral except for the auricles. The outer surface is faintly
ornamented with 17 ill-developed radial ribs which gradually strengthen against the narrow interspaces. The inner surface is a most smooth except for a faint pallial line and the adductor muscle scar. The hinge has a wide shallow resilial pit, simple cardinal crurae and distinct lateral ridges. This species has been reported from Pliocene and Pleistocene formations in several areas from the central part of Honshu to the Kurile islands (Uozumi, Takagi and Suzuki, 1986; Masuda,1986b).» O'HARA, S. & N.
