Diese Lazarusklappe hat viele reyhenweis stehende, spizige, schneeweiße Stacheln, deren Spitzen röthlich gefärbt sind; auf der Unterschale aber blätterichte Hervorragungen, welche violete und purpurröthliche Endspitzen haben. Diese Klappmuschel ist in- und auswendig weiß, und kommt vermuthlich aus Ostindien.» KARL SCHREIBERS, 1793

«DISTRIBUTION. — Indo-West Pacific: New Caledonia, Queensland to north Western Australia. Attached to corals to 30 m.
DESCRIPTION. — Shell height to 85 mm; ovate, top valve strongly convex; cardinal area moderately produced. Sculpture of numerous, even radial ribs which are densely ornamented with long, thin to slightly spatulate spines, longer marginally; interstices smooth. Colour white, umbonal area black spotted; internally white, brown at the hinge with a variegated purple-brown and white crenulated margin.»
