«Somapecten kamimanensis KIMURA, n. sp.
Pl. I, Figs. 19, 20. Description:— Shell nearly orbicular or elongatery ovate, compressed and equivalve; ears equal or anterior ear slightly longer than the posterior, antero- and postero-dorsal end of ears rounded and slightly projected beyond the hinge margin. Surface smooth. on the internal mould of the right varve there are two small triangular, shallow, wing-like depressions under the hinge margin and one deep, acute, triangular groove which has one small node at the center of its ventral margin. On the internal mould of the left valve there is one strong, acute, triangular ridge which corresponds to the deep groove of the right internal mould.
Dimension:— The holotype (No. 2119) is 22.1 mm in height and 20.2 mm in length. Comparison:— This holotype specimen is quite orbicular in outline, but some others from the type locality (Yasukurazawa) as well as other localities (Kurisaka and Karaiwa) are ovate in outline and much irigher than long. These high specimens are sometimes difficult to distinguish from Entolium japonicum, when the internal structures are not preserved. Occurrence:— Yasukurazawa, west of Yamashita, Kurisaka, Karaiwa, Erinono and Iwasa.» TOSHIO KIMURA, 1951
