«Specific Characters.— Shell of medium size, subtrigonal, rather inequilateral, with its
length and height about equal, the dorsal margins of its body fairly long and
nearly straight, and its ventral margin forming a semi-circle. Left valve
feebly convex, ornamented with nine ribs, which are very prominent and convex,
except the two lateral ones, which are inconspicuous. Interspaces concave, considerably
wider than the ribs. Surface ornamented with fine radial threads, which are
most conspicuous in the interspaces and near the posterior lateral margin, and
with still finer concentric threads. Ears of moderate size, not known complete.
Interior and right valve unknown.
Dimensions.— Length, 60 mm.; height, 58 mm.; inflation, 9 mm. Type Material.— The holotype only (L. 51498), a left valve. Remarks.— This form may have arisen as a mutation from Ch. lessepsi, but, with its fewer ribs and much wider interspaces, it is sufficiently distinct to be regarded as a new species. It does not resemble any living species at all closely. Occurrence.— Reef Limestone of Kamaran Island, Farsan group (W. A. Macfadyen Coll.).» LESLIE REGINALD COX, 1929
