«Holotype: GIV National Geological Institute AN USSR, Collection 3672, specimen No. 1464, Kamchatka, western coast, Tigilskii region, sea beach 2 kms North form the mouth of Kovran River.
Dimensions: Height- 75 mm, length– 65 mm, length of the hinge margin– 30 mm, convexity– 15 mm, apical angle about 80°. Comparison: The subspecies is differentiated from the main species by a sharply-developed sculpture of the left valve. In the principal species, the intercalated ribs are very low and slightly observed, while as in our subspecies, on the left valve the intercalated ribs are weakly differentiated from the main ones. For this reason, the general number of the radial ribs is considerably larger. The intercostal intervals of the latter are narrow, and in N. anapleus are wide and have flattened-bottom. Sculpture of the right valve is also sharply differentiated. In the main species, the radial ribs are more regular and often are divided sufficiently by deeply elongated grooves. In the subspecies, the elongated grooves are developed only in the pallial margin, and the ribs are single or dichotomous on the surface of the disk. In the intercostal intervals in the subspecies, there is an additional ribbing, and in the main species, there is striation. Moreover, in the main species, the length of the anterior auricle of the right valve, as generally all the length of the hinge margin, is larger than in the subspecies, inflation of the latter is considerably smaller than in the main species. Age: Miocene Location: Kamchatka, western coast, Tigilskii region, seashore 2 kms north to the mouth of Kovran River. Distribution: Kakert suite.» VALENTINA NIKOLAEVNA SINELNIKOVA, 1975
