Material:— Sample Qm.1095 (Kiwazin dome, W. flank, Qishm; M. Fars
(M. Miocene)), the holotype (L.86103). Description:— Known by left valve only. Of medium size, inflation slight, height and length nearly equal. Antero-dorsal and postero-dorsal margins slightly concave, the latter considerably more elongate, their angle of divergence increasing from about 90° to about 100°. Ears moderataly large, the posterior almost right-angled, bearing five radial threads and with a smooth area near its dorsal margin; anterior ear broken, but apparently (from the growth-lines) with a convex margin the general direction of which forms an angle slightly less than 90° with the hinge-margin, and with 10 unequal and unevenly spaced radial threads; both ears also with rather distant growth-threads forming small scales on threads. 17-strong, simple, rounded ribs with slightly flattened tops and with intervals of up to twice their width; whole surface bearing irregular growth-threads. Dimensions:— H = 35.3 mm. L = 34.7 mm. Remarks:— C. (A.) tjaringinensis (Martin) has a less projecting umbonal region, the posterior ear of the left valve is obtusely triangular, and the shell is smaller and has more closely-spaced ribs.
