1937 Pecten (Chlamys) miyatokoensis matumori Nomura & Hatai, 1937
«Holotype : – SM, Reg. No. 2637.
Remarks: – This subspecies differs from miyatokoensis (s. s.) by having about 11 fascicular bundles consisting of two main radial ribs, rather distinct byssal notch, and distinct ctenolium. The present one is related to miyatokoensis (s. s.). The occurrenee of matumori is restricted to the horizon higher than that of miyatokoensis (s. s.). Therefore, it is considered that the miyatokoensis (s. s.) is ancestral to matumori. Type locality, Geological formation and Age: – The foot of the dam at Dogasawa, about 700 m. north of Matsumori, Izumi-machi, Miyagi-gun, Miyagi Prefecture (Lat. 38°19'08"N., Long. 140°55'44''E.). Nanakita formation. Middle Miocene. Distribution: – Nanakita and Aoso formations, lMiyagi Prefecture: both Middle Miocene in age. Occurrence: – Rare in the tuffaceous medium- to coarse-grained sandstone of the Nanakita formation; few in the coarse-grained sandstone of the Aoso formation.» MASUDA, K. 1962.
