«A very slender species represented by a single left valve is derived from the flinty limestone at the top of Flint Ridge, and thus loo feet higher than the horizon of the above named. This species was much more elongated, and had a very narrow hinge. The lower margin is uniformly but strongly curved, while the sides are nearly straight and inclined at a very acute angle to each other. The anterior margin curves somewhat abruptly at its upper third, the posterior margin is straight. The ears are acute and depressed, while the beak is acute and somewhat elevated. There seem to be indications of the hinge ridge or furrow peculiar to this genus. Markings obscure, but apparently consisting of few radiating and many faint concentric lines. Length, 1¼ the greatest width. Hinge somewhat over ¼ the greatest width.»

«Pernopecten attenuatus (HERRICK, 1887) a été souvent citée depuis sa première description (Herrick, p. 24, pl. 1, fig. 11). Newell (1937) et R.D. Hoare (1961) indiquent sa présence dans le Desmoinesien (Pennsylvanien moyen) en Amérique du Nord. F. Demanet (1943) la reconnaît dans l'horizon du Petit-Buisson (Westphalien C) en Belgique; V.A. Muromzeva (1974, 1976) la cite dens l'Horizon de Seveposaiakskii (Moscovien inférieur) dans le Kazakhstan. Nos individus, dont le contour est plus arrondi que celui des exemplaires figurés, paraissent s'en distinguer aussi par une ornementation plus marquée.»
