«Right valve a little convex, sub-circular, as long as high; ventral margin regularly rounded; lateral margins nearly straight or somewhat concave, meeting rectangularly at the apex; posterior ear triangular with a concave posterior edge; anterior ear wing-shaped, longer and larger and deeply sinuated by a byssal notch; surface marked by about twelve principal ribs and three to five riblets on each lateral part.
Holotype specimen (Fig. 16) measures 38 mm. long and 37 mm. high. In a verv large specimen the shell attains a height of 72 mm. (Fig.18). Locality and Horizon:— Very common in the Pecten Bed at Shimoyama in the Sakawa Basin; which represents a horizon between the Halobia Bed of the Carnic stage and the Pseudomonotis ochotica Bed of the Noric stage. A specimen undoubtedly belonging to this species (Fig. 1?) was collected during excavation of the Toganotoge tunnel on the southern border of the Sakawa Basin.» TEIICHI KOBAYASHI, 1931
