«Pecten (Patinopecten) taiwanus n. sp.
PI. II, Figs. 5 a, b. Shell small, compressed, somewhat longer than high, equilateral except for unequal ears; both sides of the disc almost straight, apical angle about 95°; ventral margin evenly curved. Surface with five prominent, rounded, ribs separated by narrower interspaces; no side-riblets. Whole surface of the shell ornamented by fine incremental lines as well as microscopic tessellations. Hinge line about one-half the disc-length; ears subequal, in size; anterior being slightly larger than the posterior, sculptured with four radial threads, and with a shallow notch below. Interior undulated and corresponding to the surface ribs.
Type: A right valve, 17 mm. long, 16 mm. height and ca. 3 mm. deep. This species shows great resemblance to P. tokyoensis TOKUNAGA¹ and P. kimurai YOKOYAMA², but it is distinguished from the two by having somewhat different ribs.
