«2. P. Monotimeris. [Plate 18, fig. 10.] Shell ovate, oblique, thin, compressed, with concentric striae; ribs thirteen, rounded; ears subequal; colour brown, with white stripes and spots.
Variety A. Orange, with white divaricating stripes. Inhabits with the preceding. The young occasionally found attached to Fuci by a slender byssus.» TIMOTHY ABBOT CONRAD, 1837
