«PECTEN LAETUS. T. ovato-triangularis, ventricosa, equivalvis, dilute rosea albo 5-6-radiata: margine ligamentali obliquo, auriculis valde inequalibus, obliquis; auricula byssica profunde fossato-emarginata, radiatim sulcato-costata, costis numerosis, inequalibus argute muriculata; intus albido-incarnata. Long. 14/5; alt. 3/8 ; lat. 13/4 poll. Hab. New Zealand.
Of the same type as P. Islandicus, but is small, more convex, and the sculpture coarser; the groove separating the auricle from the body of the shell is remarkably deep.» AUGUSTUS ADDISON GOULD, 1850
