PECTEN FUCATUS. Pect. testâ suborbiculari, tenuiculâ, subconvexâ, aequilaterali, aequivalvi, valvis costis duodecim rotundatis subnodosis radiatis, costis et praecipuè interstitiis prope marginem liratis; albâ, prope marginem carmineâ aut violaceâ; auriculis inaequalibus.
THE DYED PECTEN. Shell nearly orbicular, rather thin, slightly convex, equilateral, equivalve, valves rayed with twelve rounded subnodose ribs, ribs and especially the interstices ridged near the margin; white, carmine or violet near the margin; ears unequal.
Hab. West Indies. Of very simple character, but peculiarly distinct from any other described species.»
