PECTEN DIEFFENBACHI. Pect. testa subtrigona, prope umbones uitrinque peculiariter impresso-plicata, aquilaterali, subaequivalvi, valvis saepe irregularibus, profuse radiatim lineatis et liratis, lineis lirisque undique anguste squamatis; rufescente-fusca aut violacea; auriculis valde inaequalibus.
DIEFFENBACH'S PECTEN. Shell subtriangular, peculiarly impressly plicated on both sides near the umboes, equilateral, nearly equivalve, valves often irregular, profusely radiately lineated and ridged, the lines and ridges everywhere narrowly squamate; reddish-brown or violet ; ears very unequal.
