Pecten (Chlamys) ashiyaensis var. denselineatus Nagao, 1928
NAGAO, T. 1928. Paleogene Fossils of the Islands of Kyushu, Japan. Part 2. Science Reports of the Tohoku University [2nd. Series - Geology], 12 (1): 11-140, pls. 1-17. [p. 40, pl. 8, figs. 3, 4, 9]
«Pecten (Chlamys) ashiyaensis var. denselineatus nov. var.
PI. VIII, Figs. 3, 4, 9 I have a few imperfect specimens of Pecten which are almost indistinguishable from the preceding form. The only difference I can find between these two forms is in the sculpture; namely, the main ribs in the specimens now under consideration are covered with a few, usually three or four, very fine longitudinal striae distributed on top. In consequence, the surface of the shell, especially of its lower parts, is ornamented with very numerous, fine, crowded striations. The present specimens must for a while be kept separate from the type form of P. ashiyaensis as a varietal form.
Localities and geological horizons: The Kakinoura Beds; Kakinoura-jima, Nishi-Sonogi-gun. The Yukiaino Sandstone; a point direct east of Yoshifuku, Oriose-mura, Higashi-Sonogi-gun. Both localities arc in the province of Bizen.» TAKUMI NAGAO, 1928
